Warming Hand and Body Lotion
Have you ever applied a lotion to the skin and then fill it start to warm up? This process is known as microencapsulation. This technology has been around for many many years, and you have probably seen it but to use in such applications as scratch and sniff stickers, scratch and sniff perfume ads in magazines, time release pharmaceuticals, and carbonless copy paper.
Microencapsulation is the creation of a tiny capsule usually just microns in diameter, usually containing a particular material or substance. When left undisturbed the warming hand and body lotion containing microencapsulation it remains as normal lotion. When the lotion is disturbed and moved around this causes the capsule or shell to rupture and release its core material. As its core material mixes with the materials found in the lotion a small chemical reaction occurs producing what you feel as heat.
In addition to being used in hand and body lotions, microencapsulation can be found in all sorts of applications. Microencapsulation can be found in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, cosmetic, and food industries. It has been used to to encapsulate oils, aqeous solutions, alcohols, and various solids.
You have probably seen his and hers lotions, that come in two separate containers. Microencapsulation works in the same way, it just keeps all the material together in one container. So after reading this article you may never apply hand or body warming lotion on without thinking of microencapsulation. Who would have ever thought that so much work went into such a tiny bottle?

Shea Butter Lotion
Shea Butter Lotion truely has healing and moisturizing power. Shea butter is organic, non toxic, and when unprocessed it can even be used in cooking. When used in lotion it is known to make the skin look and feel younger.
Shea butter lotion acts as a natural skin rejuvinating product, and is completely safe to use even on babies, people with skin conditions such as cracked skin, wounds, ulcers, extra dry skin, dermatitis, and eczema. Shea butter can also be used to help with stretch marks because of the way it restructures the skin.
Some other amazing things shae butter can do are:
- Be used in the bath or as a daily soap.
- soothe aching muscles.
- be used in anti-aging formulas.
Shea butter lotions are usually expensive, however shae butter can be duplicated or made at home for less.
The problem with most shea butter now available to the general public, is that it has been refined. This is done to remove the natural sent and color. In the refining process many of the effective ingredients found naturally in shae butter are removed. Refined shea butter has often been bleached, deodorized, and heated to over 400 degress. After all this is done much of its healing values are lost or significantly reduced.
So keep that in mind when buying shea butter lotion unless you know the butter is unrefined or from West Africa. Who wants to buy shae butter that my be aesthetically appealing, yet lacks the true moisturizing, healing, nutritious properties of true traditional Shea butter?

Hand Soap Lotion
Is there an advantage to having your soap and your lotion together in one squeeze, like a hand soap lotion? There are many soaps on the market that include conditioners and lotions. Soft soap is one that moisterizes and protects the skin while cleaning germs from your skin at the same time.
- A gallon refill of Soft Soap refill with moisturizer will run about 10.00$
One complaint common of hand soap lotion is the feeling of residue left behind even after rinsing hands for a long time. This is simply the moisturizer left behind after the soap is gone.
GoJo is famous for making a soap agent that helps remove oil, grease and gasoline for mechanics as they work on cars. They now have a combined hand soap lotion called Pink and Klean that does moisturize the skin as well as effictively clean the hard to clean oil and grease. The degreaser’s and cleaners that mechanics work with are very harsh to the skin, so this hand soap lotion is just what the mechanic ordered!!
- Gojo Pink and Clean 12 count 800ml refills are about 35.00$
Another type of hand soap lotion is an actual sanitizer. Purell makes a product called NXT hand sanitizer. What is so great about this product is that it kills 99% of germs but requires no water or paper towels, and works in as little as 15 seconds. It has specially formed moisturizes that leave hands feeling soft and refreshed.
- Purell NXT Hand Sanitizer runs about 10.00$ for 1000ml
These are just a few of the Hand Soap Lotions available on the market. They do work to keep your skin moisturized but if dry skin is really a problem these hand soap lotions will not be enough. You will need to use these products in succession with your daily moisturizing lotion.
